Project Management Coordinator

Are you passionate about environmental issues? Do you have an in-depth, applied knowledge of project management principles and methodologies? Then, we need your expertise to support important initiatives that will protect and restore one of Ontario’s valuable ecosystems. As a project management expert with the Ministry of the Environment, you will:

  •  manage systems to prioritize, assign and monitor projects and resources
  •  lead complex projects for the branch
  •  promote and consult on the use of a standard branch project management framework
  •  act as the fiscal lead to manage all fiscal commitments
  •  exchange information and analysis to inform on branch planning and program development.

This is a nine-month contract. Location: 55 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto.

Qualifications:

Project management, fiscal and leadership skills:

  •  You have project management experience.
  •  You can provide leadership and coaching to project staff.
  •  You know how to plan and lead multiple concurrent projects.
  •  You are organized.
  •  You can develop, administer and monitor budgets.
  •  You know how to conduct financial analysis of allocated resources.

Environmental management and planning knowledge:

  •  You know the theories, principles and practices of environmental planning and management.
  •  You can interpret and apply environmental policies and legislation (e.g., Environmental Protection Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Lake Simcoe Protection Act, 2008) and regulations for environmental protection.

Communication and relationship management skills:

  •  You can communicate in a clear and concise manner.
  •  You can provide consultation and guidance to project teams.
  •  You are a good negotiator.
  •  You work well with others and build effective working relationships.

Analytical and problem-solving skills and judgment:

  •  You have strategic thinking and conceptual skills to make decisions and recommendations.
  •  You are analytical and know how to problem-solve.
  •  You demonstrate judgment and discretion when dealing with others.

Salary range: $75,163 - $97,638

Environmental Scientist - Intermediate
Hatch TMENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE GROUP
ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST (Intermediate)

Environmental Services Group (ESG) Practice provides a full range of environmental services to Hatch’s clients through two main Practice Areas: Environment and Sustainability Services, and Carbon Management Services. Hatch provides these services both in Canada and globally.

Hatch is seeking an intermediate full-time Environmental Specialist for our Niagara Falls office primarily to support the Renewable Energy Business Unit. The primary role of this position is to coordinate environmental assessments for hydro, wind and solar projects. Assistance in Hatch’s Metal & Mining and Infrastructure sectors may also be requested.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of environmental assessments under federal and provincial processes and preparation of required documentation

  • Coordination of public, agency and Aboriginal consultation

  • Coordination and participation in field programs to meet regulatory requirements

  • Preparation of environmental constraints for due diligence and feasibility studies

  • Preparation of permit and approval applications and documentation to meet regulatory requirements of projects

Requirements:

  • A degree in Environmental Sciences with a specialization in terrestrial biology or similar qualifications.

  • 6 to 12 years relevant experience in Canada preferably in the energy (generation and transmission) sector and terrestrial biology.

  • Experience in the metals & mining and/or infrastructure sectors are an asset.

  • Project management experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of environmental legislation and regulations, in particular in Canada and Ontario.

  • Experience with other countries and provinces are an asset.

  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience with aboriginal groups, bird and bat monitoring/assessments and wetland evaluation is an asset
