IAIA Updates

As a member of OAIA, you are also an IAIA Member – IAIA recently announced its new online professional networking and collaboration site, IAIA Connect.  One of its primary functions will be to keep members and Committees informed of the latest IA information.  IAIA Connect will allow members to:

  •  post messages

  • view archived messages

  • see messages by discussion topic

  • add events to the group’s calendar

  • upload working documents and public resources

  • view all Section/Committee/Branch/group members

  • find group members and send individual messages directly within IAIA Connect

For members, log in to the IAIA website and visit  “My Groups” in the left menu bar.  If you selected any Sections on your membership directory form, then you are automatically a member of that Section’s group.  If you would like to join a Section, just click “Groups” to see the entire list.    You will find a link to IAIA Connect via IAIA’s website, which contains some additional information, including FAQs and a quick reference link.  To contact us with questions: join the “IAIA Connect Help Desk” group on the site and post questions there, or contact Shelli (info@iaia.org) or me (bridget@iaia.org).

4. Matching challenge for contributions

Double (or triple!) the impact of your donation. Now through 30 September 2011, your donation will be matched at least $1 to $1. (Note: IAIA is a 501(c)3 non-profit, so contributions made to IAIA by US taxpayers are deductible under US law.)

IAIA’s 2010 Rose-Hulman award winner, Charlotte Bingham, has offered seed money as well as matching funds for an IAIA capacity building endowment fund. The fund will be used to train, educate, and network environmental professionals from developing countries who will then be better-equipped to make a difference in their home countries.

To make a contribution through IAIA’s online store, click here and enter the amount you’d like to contribute. You can also add it to your membership renewal; just write in the amount under the optional voluntary contribution line on the form and add it to your total, or add the Capacity Building Contribution in the online store.

Others have expressed interest in doing the same thing as Charlotte, so it is possible each dollar contributed to this fund could be worth $3 or even more. If you are interested in joining Charlotte by providing matching funding, please contact Bridget (bridget@iaia.org).
